Apricot Entremet

Another week for pastry practical which also means another war >:)! Just kidding...

This time we were assigned to make 2 cakes in a group of 4 people instead of a plated dessert. Not really keen of the idea of working with 4 people. The lesser the people the better actually... But oh well, the Chef's the boss *roll eyes*.

Anyway, today's dessert cake is an Apricot Entremet (cake with layers, but not exactly a layer cake). Very technical and requires loads of this and thats which I find it pretty annoying. But through the process, it was actually quite fun. Learnt something new on how to assemble a nice pretty cake <3

While we were busy doing of stuff, the Chef was baking some baguettes for the other class' lunch service. Man do they look oh so delicious! You can tell that it's so great just by looking at the color. The moment the baguettes are removed from the oven, there were cracking sounds. Some of the kaypohchi us went and gave a 'WAH~~~~~', as though we've never seen a baguette before and the Chef said, "A good bread will always have the cracking sound". Then we were like, "Oooooo~~~!!". I wanted to steal a whole loaf home but......urgh! :(

The whole cake would've definitely be a bomb if it were to be another flavour. The apricot Jelly (in the middle) was quite bad. The flavour was too overwhelming and destroying the delegate flavours of the praline mousseline. Perhaps Raspberry would've been the better choice =(.

Oh well~~ Starting from today, Imma try making loads of printed sponges on my cakes baking in the future *_*.
