Carcassonne

The following day, we had to check out from the hotel at 7am to head to the train station as we're going to the city of Toulouse! Those who were suffering from the cold were quite relieved to hear that the northern part of France is more warmer. The train station was not as big as expected but the trains can really fit plenty of people. The French people must be quite in shocked as there was an army of Chinese  (majority) youngsters marching towards the train when it was time to board. Their facial expression was priceless haha. The journey to Toulouse was a total of 5 hours. The seats were comfortable and I can say way better than the seats on Emirates lol.

Upon arrival, the place was quite dark already although it's like 4.30pm-ish. Sad to say, the first impression of Toulouse was pretty bad as we were greeted by a bunch of scary looking drug addicts look-a-like outside of the train station. As we on the bus heading to our hotel, we also noticed that the streets were very dark as though there weren't any street lamps. It kind of gave us the creep as though it's a very dangerous city. We arrived to the hotel safe and sound, quickly checked in, throw our stuffs, and head out to find dinner. To our surprise, everything was mostly closed. So we decided to just head to some grocery store to find whatever we can get. Just the first day in Toulouse and there was already drama *Psst, Vonn I'm sure you'd likey this one :P*.

Things we got from the grocery store. Oh did I mention that their convenience product is really good?! Hahah, we did some illegal cooking in the hotel room :P.

Had to sleep early that night as again we had to wake up early for our day trip to Carcassonne. We were brought to visit a very old castle built in the olden days. It feels so Lord of the Rings when I come to think of it, just that it's not as glam lol. It was actually more of a shopping area honestly. Everyone was so crazy shopping for chocolates and chocolates and more chocolates. It really makes me wonder, what's so good about all of those chocolates? A friend even commented, 'Mereka beli coklat macam pergi pasar borong'. LoL.

If this was in Malaysia and I see a cute dog like this, I'd just grab and run >:D

We definitely separated ourselves from the other half of the group as they claim that they'd rather see more things wandering around whereas for the other half of us would want to dine and enjoy the scrumptious French food. Lucky for the really foodie enthusiast people, they found a Michelin star guide restaurant. So we're pretty sure the food is going to be really good. To my surprise, the price was not that expensive as well. A 3 course meal for only 16 Euros. And please don't start on the conversion rates >_>! To my surprise, the whole restaurant was run by only 4 people?! 3 servers, and ONE chef. The servers were really efficient and fast and superb! I was really amazed with their work ethics. I have to be this mean bitch, but Malaysian F&B service sucks to the max and we have to pay 10% service charge for crap?! Urgh..... One day if all the F&B outlets gets me all fired up, I'm gonna so slam the Food Act right into their face.

Roma Salad
Man was the portion huge! It's like those size you pay RM25+ for a gourmet salad. It was serve with a really generous amount of ham and buffalo mozzarellas! Really fresh and yummeh!

Cassoulet
Duck confit and pork sausage cooked with stewed beans. It's a very famous dish in Toulouse. Tastes amazing but I personally wouldn't be able to finish it as it can be a little rich.

Pan Seared Salmon
Nothing to scream about.

Duck Confit
The winning dish! A real authentic duck confit served with roasted potatoes and ratatouille. I was a satisfied boy after lunch.

Fromage Blanc: Raspberry and Chestnut flavour. It was basically a super soft white cheese which is so creamy and smooth as though eating a really nice frozen yoghurt :D.

Fruit Platter. Really fresh and sweet.
