Field Trip @ Maggi

Our chef lecturer has arranged us a field trip to visit at Maggi's outlet. At first we were all so not keen on going as we were wondering what's there to learn from a convenience product factory. Perhaps all we would get are just Maggi products.

We left campus at around 9.30am and arrived there at 10am+. It was just at the Surian Tower opposite of the curve. Never knew that in my life hahaha. We went up there, into their kitchen studio and were greeted by our chef lecturer's friend and also the ambassador for Maggi, Chef Muluk. Fortunately, his English was not too bad and quite entertaining. I would've died of boredom with someone who'd be super dull and boring.

He started off presenting about Maggi products (can't blame him as it's his job). Later, he had a small cooking demonstration on how to cook Nasi Briyani Gam using Maggi products. We were all pretty surprised with the wonders of convenience products lol. It was prepared super fast =_=! Sometimes, why bother the hassle of cooking right? Plus doing the dishes at the end is such a horror!

Later, we were divided into 5 groups to have a small cooking competition with a black box (box filled with unknown ingredients) concept. Each group were suppose to prepare 2 different types of dishes and the each station has a theme;
  • Group 1: Soup
  • Group 2: Salad
  • Group 3: Chicken
  • Group 4: Fish
  • Group 5: Vegetables (the group I'm in =_=)
I would have to say that my group was the most pathetic amongst the rest as the main ingredient that we got was just EGGPLANTS and PINEAPPLES. Like seriously...how creative can we be by just using these 2 ingredients =_=! But oh well, we just cooked whatever we felt like doing.
